Oh I am so far behind....

I'm finally a home owner! I been missing in action from posting or doing anything creative for the last three months. But things are starting to settle down and I had time to read blogs and surf the web tonight, so I figured I do a short post also. And few pictures to show progress.

There was a downpour this day, but it came from across the lake and blew everything off the patio and knocked down the flowers hanging at the back of the house. I was hoping it would come from the south, so I could see if the garage flooded. No luck at all. I did learn that plants and furniture will blow across the patio into my sun room windows in a heart beat.

Notice the rain coming directly down over the edge of the gutters, they were totally full of muck, leaves and branches on both sides of the house. Luckily for me, my son got up on a ladder and cleaned them out. Nasty smelling stuff, but we dumped into the new flower beds thinking it will add good fertilizer to the area.

Crys wasn't so pleased about the move, but she's settling in. The trip out was not so nice, since Crys didn't want to cooperation by leaving the old apartment and riding out in the lovely red SUV to the new house. Leaving in mom's arms was not an option. She tried climbing over my shoulder and down my back, darn kitty claws! Next attempt, was the kitty kennel. Did you ever try sticking a cat who's imitating a flying squirrel into a kennel. She finally went in bottom first before she could figure it out, I had the door to the kennel shut. I actually considered opening the door because she went bonkers. I thought I had pinched her in the door or something, but no it was just her attempt to escape from the kennel. She looked like a Tasmanian devil bouncing around inside. No settling down, because the minute we left the house and started outside, the yowling began. Reaching the car should have made an improvement, but no success there either, she gave the door a work out trying to figure out how to dig her way out.

When we reached the house, she escaped into the boxes and I didn't see her for a few days, she was fairly mad at me. Needless to say, she's found happiness hiding and climbing on the boxes and has started snuggling up once again with mom.

So work is far from over, but I've crossed off foundation repair, new front door and storm door, replaced back door and added a storm door, sealed up windows, added a new layer of insulation in the attic, replaced garage door opener, repaired the garage door itself, new circuit breaker box, rewired AC and stove, added lights to the front of the garage, moved switches around so they are more logical, and added a couple of outlets in rooms that were sadly lacking a place to plug things in. Added a couple of ceiling fans, painted three rooms with two more in the works, starting scraping kitchen cabinets and in general spent more money in two months than I have ever done. I shudder to think of the costs. But I have all the receipts, when I think I can stand the shock, I'll go through them.

I still have half a garage full of boxes and the living room is jam packed. But I see progress!
